Her Majesty Queen Victoria is dead. Five hundred of the 3rd Dragoon Guards have left Ireland for the Cape. Trooper Cecil Smith, of tho Hen - Zealand Rough Riders, died at Mafeking. The troopship Orient, with returned New Zealand soldiers on board, arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday. Mr Kruger has been advised by the Commissioners of fihe Afrikander* Bond to abandon the demand for Boer independence. The speech of the French Premier on the Religious Associations Bill has been ordered by the Chamber of Deputies to lie placarded" throughout France. w;
