JEWISH SILVER WEDDING.

l*be Rev and Mrs Pan Staveren celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding on Saturday and-yesterday. The eeleOration took tlio form of a reception, which occupied the two afternoons and evenings, at which over two hundred people were received and entertained. Mr ami Mrs Van Stay cron were married in. London in 1875 by the Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom. Eighteen months iater they left for the present seat of their pastoral labours, and it must be gratifying to them' to know that alter about twenty-four years’ service as bead of tho Jewish community the whole of his congregation in Wellington attended in person to congratulate tho celebrants on the attainment of their twenty-filth year of married' life—their silver wedding. Mrs Van Staveren received m black tucked corded silk, frith white satin and silver facings, while the Misses , Van Staveren wore white silk dresses with tucked fronts and sleeves. .
