PBJBSS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, June 11. This morning a number of veterans representing her Majesty’s naval' and military forces presented an address, with a casket, to the Governor. , The Hon- Thomas Thompson said the company had assembled on behalf of the veterans.to present his Excellency with an address for his great kindness towards them during his visit to Auckland. In the course of a suitable reply, the Governor said he hoped to see a New Zealand Veterans’ Association established, which would commemorate the past, and so keep their brave and noble deeds ever green in the minds of future generations in this colony. Ho begged to thank them warmly for the address, and l to assure them,it was very greatly appreciated both by Lady Ranfurly and himself. - , A casket to contain the address was also presented to his Excellency. The casket is composed of strips of wood indigenous to New Zealand, bound together with silver bands. The scroll is in. Maori, ornamented with the ancient name of the North' Island, “Te Ika a Maui,” in a silver shield.
