HAWKE’S BAY v. WELLINGTON. VICTORY FOR THE VISITORS. The large number-of people who went out to witness the polo match Hawke’s Bay. v. Wellington at Miramar yesterday were amply rewarded. The-game was an admirable one . from a spectator’s point of view. Both ponies and riders were •in - first-class condition, and the teams Wfere: well matched. Consequently each respective spell was fast and exciting. Messrs J. Ormond (1), H. Russell' (2), McKenzie (3) and A. H. Russell (back) represented the northern province, and Messrs Skerrett (1). Johnston (2). Crawford (3) and Baldwin (back).-fhe players of the Wellington district. Hawke’s Bay scored three goals—one early in the game, one in the second spell, and one in th© fourth speJl.ffrpm a penalty stroke for crossing) ■and Wellington one, the visitors thus ■winning by two goals. The game between Oroua and Hawke’s Bay. to be played at Miramar next Thursday, is being looked forward to with great interest locally.
