The barque Bane;:, from Glasgow, reports that she signted tho steamer Waikato on the 2nd beptcmluT in latitude 43.21c1cg. south, lougitud,' oi.-ltidog. oast. At the time there was a strong easterly breejio and a high sea. • The Waikato was flying sigiials that she urgently required assist aivte, and she reported her .shaft broken. [The posit ion given by the viatica shows that flic Waikato was to the south-east of the position—'lddcg. south latitude, flfldeg. east longitude—in which she. was seen by the barque Aalborg on tho 3rd August.
