SOUND POSITION. : EXTENSION OF RAILWAY ‘ SYSTEMS. (Received October 4, 0.115 a.m.; BRISBANE, Tuesday., In tbo Legislative Asombly tu-day the Treasurer (All- Pliilp) delivered his Financial Statement. Tho revenue for the past year was shown-to bo £4,184,080, being £300,000 in excess.of the estimate, while tho expenditure, amounted to £4.0514 000. The surplus of £160.. - will be handed to tlio trustees of lire Public Debt Reduction' Fund. For the current year the Treasurer estimates 1 ;' the revenue at '£4,388,000, dud the, expenditure’at £4. 00. In view of the hopeful outlook of tho: colony and the sounduefs of its nuances, the Government feels justified in prudently extending the railway systems, and authority will be Siught. to raise a loan for that purpose.
