DUNEDIN RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
SUGGESTED R "■ ■ T BY THE JURY WITHDRAWN. PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, Thursday. At the inquest touching the death of John Broadbent, wool merchant, who met with an accident on Saturday night at the railway station, the evidence showed that the deceased, being a little late attempted to get on the train while it was moving slowly away, and that he fell between the platform and the guard’s van. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death. They wished, however, to add a rider to the effect that the carriage steps should be connected in some way with netting to prevent persons stepping from the platform on a train falling between the railway platform and the carriages; but when the matter was explained by the traffic manager the rider was withdrawn.
