ACETYLENE GAS EXPLOSION.
FATHER AND SON SERIOUSLY INJURED. PRESS ASSOCIATION. ’ CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Mr R. Purchase, of the Prebbleton Hotel, and his son, a lad of ten years of age, have been seriously injured through an explosion of acetylene gas. They had been engaged in washing out a pan, after which Mr Purchase poured water into it and held a lighted match over it to see if there was sufficient. An explosion followed, .severely burning the faces of both father and son.
It is hoped they will not lose their eyesight. , . The repbrt of the explosion was heard a quarter of a mile away.
