AMUSEMENTS.

WEDNESDAY POPULAR CONCERT. These excellent entertainments, given weekly in tho Skating Kink, are slowly but surely gaining public favour, there being a large audience last evening, despite the weather. A wall-balanced little orchestra, led by Mr S Cimino, jan., opened the programme, playing “ A Gipsy Romance,” by Hume, in good style They also opened tho second part with the overture “ LTtalionno a Algier.” Miss Daniel sang Braga’s “La Serenata ” (with violin obbligato) in tho first pare very swaetly, and contributed the wellknown ballad *’ Tell Me, My Heart ” later in the evening. Both songs were well received. Tha comic songs of Mr G. R. Hall greatly amused tho audience, his best effort baing “ All Through a Little Piaoeof Bacon.” Mr Charles Cimino contributed a violin solo in the first part. Master Thompson (aged 11) in tha second part played the violin solo “ Life Let Us Cherish ” exceedingly well, the lad showing a surprising knowledge of the instrument. Mark Twain's humorous selection *’ Our Qaida ” received an intelligent interpretation at the hands of Mr P. A. Ba fieri. Mr Prank Young sang “ The King's Minstrel” (Pioanli) and Pontet’s “ Big Ban,” and in response to an imperative encore the stirring ballad ‘ The Admiral’s Broom”—his best effort. What is termed a “ zo phono ” entertainment was given by Mr Lon Sawtell, who very cleverly imitates a variety of animals and birds with his voice. Mrs Alfred Levi (Miss Blanche Joel) was loudly encored for her artistic singing of “ The Children’s Home ” (Cowan), and m response she gave the plaintive refrain “Daddy.” Her contribution in the second part was “ Where the Bee Bucks ” (Arne), given in a most spirited manner. Mr Salvatore Cimino, jan , played the accompaniments in an artistic style The management is arranging a splendid programme for next Wednesday, particulars of which will be given later on.
