THE HIGHWAY ROBBERY NEAR PERTH.

ATTEMPT TO ARREST THE BOBBERS. THE POLICE FIRED AT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. — Copyright. Received May 34, 10.30 a.m. Pekth, May 24. The tracks of the men who stuck up Mr Ford, secretary of the Peninsula Brick Works, and robbed him of £93, were lost in the vicinity of a Perth suburb, where early yesterday morning the police saw three men hanging round the verandah of an hotel. They attempted to arrest the men, who bolted.

The police gave chase, and one of them turned, and fired a revolver, the shot narrowly missing one of the constables. The desperadoes, who managed to escape, are believed to be identical with the men who stuck up Mr Ford.
