The Pahlio Wprks Committee o£ the City 'Council last night had the question of the City Tramways under discussion.. The Mayor, before the meeting went into committee, referred to an article in the evening paper, and eaid the pahlio should know that under the present agreement the Council could step in at any time and purchase the tramways without paying anything for good-will or anything of that kind. That was a clause of the agreement, and a very essential one.
Councillor Anderson: What about the extension of five years f The Mayor: The Connoil can step in at any time. Councillor Fraser: Any time during the five years.
The Mayor: Yes. It was decided to recommend that the Mayor and the City Solicitor be empowered to prepare a deed of agreement, for submission to the proprietors of the tramway, embodying the arrangement agreed to by the Council.
