Mr Matthew Henry reports as follows:—A lair entry of sheep came forward on Thursday, but a very small entry of cattle. The attendance of the nubile was considerably below the average. lo the sheep Hue little business was done at auction. During the day, however, every lino was olearea. Vendors of cattle, having now made up their minds lo accept current values, a fait trod© was done at auction at subjoined quotations Cattle—Forward bullocks, £4 ; two-year steers, £2 la; yearlings, 14s; weaners, 7s to 10s: fat cows, £ll9s to £2 ss. Sheep -•Four-tooth wethers, 7s; four-tooth maiden ewes, 6s 8s to 7s; two-tooth wethers, Cs Hd; forward ewes and wethers, 6s 4s. ... . . . Messrs P. R. Jackson and Co.’s Wanganui stock report is as follows:—There was a moderate yarding of cattle ; bidding under tho hammer was dull, though we disposed of the bulk afterwards, but at prices lower than originally asked for by the vendors. Store cows in poor condition made 15s; 8 • year bullocks, £3; 2 • year steers, 32s 6d; 20-months heifers, SOs Od; yearlings, mixed sexes, IBs; milkers, £2 10s to £3. Most of tbo sheep entered were in tho wool, which proved unsuitable for buyers' requirements. Shorn 2-tooth wethers made Us 9d. For pigs there was a moderate demand, stores making 10a 3d; small porkers, 13s 6d; larger, 20a to23s6d; baoonors, 31a. t Messrs A. O. Taine and Co. report holding their weekly sale on Saturday, Bch inst. Tho entry was composed of a few good harness horses, light and heavy, and also a number of light horses, traps and harness. The attendance was large and bidding brisk for all the superior sorts, others being neglected. Wo sold a lirst-olass lour year-old grey harness gelding at £2l; black harness mare, £l6; bay harness gelding, £l7; lighter sorts at £l4 to £B, and hacks, £llos to £4, The market is good for really serviceable harness horses ; draughts are neglected.
