Mr William Terries had just alighted from his brougham find was chatting to & friend while unlocking the stage door in Maiden Lane when Mr Prince, an actor who wont by tho name of Madarchi. rushed forward and without a word stabbed Mr Torriss through tho heart and back with a thin, long knife. The victim died within a quarter of an hour. The murderer made no attempt to escape, and was promptly secured. The deed is attributed to Mr Ternss having refused additional assistance to Prince from the actors* benevolent fund. The murderer had not been associated with the Adelphi Theatre for several years. The large audience which had assembled at the theatre sorrowfully dispersed. A curious incident in connection with tho tragedy is that Mr Lane, Mr Ternss undorat udy in " The Secret Service, ** a drama founded on tho American war, declares that he dreamt of the murder on the previous night.
