No provision is made in the estimates for the payment of the costs in the famous Butler extradition ease, but it (was understood at the time that the British Consul in Sau Francisco had paid the money. Latest advices from America, however, show that so far as the Sau Francisco police are concerned they have not participated in any disbursements.
