For the concluding day of the Caulfield Meeting beautiful weatbar was enjoyed and there was a large attendance, including the Governor and suite. Carabinier Won the Maiden Plato in splendid style, fairly smothering the field in the last furlong, while Lnenllns and Pinflre, who opened Out favourite?, finished in the extreme rear. Carabinier was well eiipported by, the followers of Mr iValtef Mam'fo-J jadiv disappointed his bacKOt’o in the Moonga Handicap. \Vitii the exception of one good ran half a mile from home, ha never showed tho slightest . brilliancy. Htrundo out himself severely in the beoond Hardies, through catching in a hurdle, Murdoch gaining a meritorious victory in the last half fat Ong. Here a collision took place between Garilus and Watercolour, who were some distance in the rear, brit in front of Dreamland and Mischief, who were whipping in. ■ Passing tho mile post Key, was still in front, but a furlong further on she fall back, and Malto took up the running, while The Grafter moved up into second place. Then came The Hypnotist, Paul Pry, Acton, Suubury, Ayrshire and Parthenopteua, the latter being on the rails,"and experiencing difficulty in getting through his horses. Sweeping down to tho home turn Parthenopreus managed to extricate himself, and was lying fourth just behind The Grafter, Paul Pry and Rosella, tho last-named being in asplondid position for tho first time dating the race; The colours ot Amberite became prominent, the son of Carbine being well up on tho outside. Tho Grafter led into the straight, closely pursued by Amberite, Metford, Paul Pry, Parthenopmas, Key and Ayrshire, and at the distance Amberito,supplanted Too Grafter in tho read, aud won by a length from Parthanopanrs, who came very fast in the last furlong, Ayrshire was half a length behind the favourite, Paul Pry fourth, The Grafter fifth. Then in the order named—Key, Devon, Metford and Kosella, the last three to pass tho post being The Hypnotist, Oauoona and Malto. Time, 2min 37seo. Amberite proved himself to be a great colt, but with a fair run tho favourite would undoubtedly have won. The result came as a surprise to Amberite’a party, who neglected the A.J.O.
