CROSS-COUNTRY RACE AT MIRAMAR.
A great deal of interest was taken in the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club’s crosscountry race which was run at Miramar on Saturday afternoon. There were 16. starters for the event. Bourke and Henderson, the limit men, put cn the pace at the start, and maintained tbeir lead until the finish, Bourke eventually winning after a splendid spurt. A. Henderson was second and G. Elliott third, 'the time was 21mia 12;eo. For the 100yds Handicap, the large field of 13 competed. Tho race was won by Patrick in tho fine time of lOseo. A alight wind was with the men, but this was balanced by the uneven state of the ground. Two heats were run,-Patrick (sor) winning the first, Butler <6yds) being second. The second heat was won by Eintoul (6yds), Cuff (4yds) being second. Abbott, Broome, Bridge, Skelloy, ■ Williamson, Stephen, Willis, Brewer and Meredith also started in the heats. The final resulted as follows, Patrick, 1; Bintoul, 2 ; Butler, 3. Patrick won by a few inches on the tape.
