ALCHEMY.
THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE. Alchemy was the forerunner of chemistry, its chief object being the discovery of the philosopher’s stone, which was supposed to turn base metals into gold. The philosopher s stone has not been discovered, but the laws of chemistry and distillation have produced in this country an Elixir of Life which promises health and long life to all who use it, with discretion. Wolfe's Schnapps is the combined result of patient research and technical knowledge: it is a boon, alike to men women and children. It is necessary, however, to bo aware of imitations and better to bny whole bottles, which sometimes conceal gold, in the shape of £1 orders placed inside the labels. 11
