Press Association. Dunedin, April 3. At a meeting of tho committee of the Chamber of Commerce to-day letters were read from the Now Zealand Shipping Company and the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, intimating that they could not see their wiy to modify their decision to cease hooking to Dunedin while the Victoria Channel remained as at present. The letters were referred to the Harbour Board. Mr R. Hudson wrote that he was prepared to subscribe £IOOO towards the purchase of tho Colonial, Bank building if nine others would give a'similar sum, or *£soo if 19 others gave a similar donation. ~ „ b Woodvilde, April 2. Tho Kev Mr Colenso was thrown out of his buggy on the Woodlands road yesterday afternoon, and bad his right olbow joint badly smashed. The doctor fears that ho will not have tho use of the arm again. Special to tuk New Zealand limes. Hasxeeton, April 2. A man named George Dixon, ajins ’lhomaq McCarthy,was committed for trial this aiternoon on a charge of stealing a horse, saddle and bridle, valued at £lO, the property of William Riddle, of tho Lower Taueru.
