CRICKET.
Tho match for the Wednesday afternoon Championship between the United Tradesmen (A team) and the Unions on No. 4 pitch at the Basin Reserve yesterday afternoon, resulted in an easy victory for the Tradesmen, who closed their innings after making 130 for tho loss of six wickets, tho principal scorers being—Franco, 75; D, R. Niven, 54; Nowall, It; J. Thawjoy, 18; and Pearson, 12. Tho Unions only succeeded in punting together 41, tho Tradesmen thus winning by 146 on tho first innings. Niven and Kirkland howled remarkably well for the Tradesmen. None of tho Union team got into double figures. Carman (7) and Haslam (7) were the two highest scorers. Howe, Biilman, Carman and Griffiths bowled for the Unions, the first named getting most wickets. The B Tradesmen team defeated the Jewellers yesterday by 30 rune. ’ Trnsoott, for the winners, bowled with phenomenal success, taking six wickets for three runs, four of them with consecutive balls.
At a meeting of tho Now Zealand Cricket Council hold in Christchurch _ last night, a statement was presented showing the profit to the Council on tho tour of tho Australians to be .£95 4s. It was decided that the New Zealand - Queensland match .be played at Wellington on December 2fith, 28th and 29th, provided the Wellington Association agrees to share the risk equally with the Council, in which case the Association could also share tho profits In tho same proportion. Messrs Fowko, Tapper and Smith were appointed to select the New Zealand team. It was decided to write to Major Wardell asking if arrangements could be made for Stoddart’s team to visit New Zealand next season.
