MASTERTON.

Special to the New Zealand Times. Masterton, September 10. The house of Mr Kossiter, at Mauriceville, narrowly escaped destruction by fire on Tuesday, through tho shingle roof taking fire. It was with some difficulty that tho flames were extinguished. Two settlers will appear before tho Magistrate on Friday on a charge of failing to destroy tho rabbits on their property. A man named MoPiok met with a dray accident at Mauriceville the other day, and has boon admitted to the Masterton Hospital, suffering from a broken leg. Two beasts were destroyed by Inspector Walter Miller, at Parkville, near Ekotahuna, on Tuesday. One was suffering from tuberculosis in its worst stage.
