An application from Messrs Culler and Anderson for a right-of-way off South road was referred to tho Public Worka Commit* too. lt _ It was decided to remove earth from Oriental terrace in front of Mr C. Smith’s residence, The residents of Kilbirnio wrote offering to spend on tho road from Pirio street to Kilbirnio. The offer was accepted.

Tho motion given notice of by Councillor Myers to the effect that stops be taken to improve the tramway service of tho city, was deferred owing to tho absence of Councillor Myers. Another motion, that a handrail be placed on Clifton torraoo between tho school and San Sebastian road, was also deferred for this reason. Councillor Higginhottom moved that for the more efficient performance of tho cartage required by the Corporation, and for tho payment of the minimum wage, estimates be prepared showing tho cost of sufficient stabling, horses, carts. &c., and that should tho Council decide to purchase their own plant, provision bo mado for this in the financial year 18!)7-l)8. This was agreed to. Councillor Fraaor moved, “ That, with a view to oonaorvo tho water for domestic purposes on tho highor levels of tho oity, no more water engines bo supplied with water from the Corporation mains, and that when tho present supply to any now-existing engines be withdrawn, tho same be not transferred or renewed, " This motion was carried.
