MINING.

MINE MANAGERS’ REPORTS. Waituia. —Tho roof is divided into two branches about three feet apart. Golden Anchor.—Low level: The country has considerably improved, mineral seams being very prominent. Golden Link.—Specimen loader: For tho last five feet the leader has improved very much. Gold is seen freely through the quartz when breaking tho leader down. Matawai.—Tho reef looks all that could bo desired, varying from 9in to 2ft thick. I believe tho general stuff will average over 2oz to the ton. Kauraki No. 2.—Tho shaft has been sunk a further depth of 4ft through tight country, in which bunches of mineralised quartz and stringers are found. Prido of Hauraki.—Jones’ leader has split up considerably, but gold can still bo got by pounding. Tho new leader is undoubtedly a specimen one at a lower depth, and should crush well all through. Inviota.—Started to cut through the reef at tho face of No. 2 level. Drive on cioss lode; The lode is opening out a little, the atone being of a nice kindly nature for gold, a few colours being seen occasionally. Pukewhau.—Tho rise has been put up tho required distance of 60ft, and have opened out from tho top for 18ft, and have got into the Homewood Bound drive, so that wo can see now whore Bulls reef, the Homeward Bound reef and Bannermau’s reef are.

Komata Triumph.—Have been doing a great deal of surface prospecting, chiefly trenching, with the result that wo struck a now reef running right through the ground. Have trenched across it in several places, and find the average thickness to bo 12tt. The quartz is of a kindly nature, and I consider this to be a good discovery. Grace Darling.—No. 2 level; The lode still continues large. We are taking the drive about 4ft Gin wide, and there is ho appearance of a wall on either side. The stone coming to hand is of a nice kindly description j loose gold can bo obtained in the dish, and also by pestle and mortar test.

Welcome Find.—No. 2 Just-in-Time lode, bottom level: A stope has been carried along the back of the drive, and the lode taken down. It averages about Gin in width, and looks well for gold. Southern lode: Tho stope has been taken along by an average of 6ft above tho back of tho drive. I expect to break down about the middle part of next week. Bunker’s Hill.—Else: The rise is now up a distance of 22ft. In the back the country is of a lighter character. When breaking down colours of gold were seen in the foot-wall vein. Drive north-west: The drive has been extended Bft daring tho week. The country still remains of an excellent description, and when breaking down dabs of gold were seen in the quartz. On Thursday a small loader, lin in thickness, made its appearance, from which I selected about 31b of stone, showing strong blotches of gold. This leader is on the loft hand or western side of tho drive; its course is almost parallel with our No. 1 reef, but with a strong dip towards it.
