Baron -Von Mueller, tho well-known botanist, has received a German paper called tho German and Australian Post, which publishes a statement that the Arctic exploring ship Algir has reached tho North Pole, and Baron Mueller is inclined to believe that tho information is authentic.

Tho paper says that the North Pol© was reached by means of an aluminium boat on wheels. Aft-er a long journey in the open water the boat met with a long line of porous rocks running from oast to west, and beyond this formation open water was again met. The region is said to teem with bird and fish life. ______
