After the drill, a special meeting was held to consider the question of the election of several members of the Wellington Eifles, which corps had been disbanded that evening. After a long discussion it was agreed that vacancies for eight men should be filled up from the Eifles, and the company also decided to enter into negotiations with these men for the purchase of some of the Guards’ assets. It was further resolved that the standard height of the corps (sft 7in) should be adhered to, the members at the same time expressing regret that this decision would keep out some very energetic members of the Wellington Eifles who wished to join. The Wellington Guards will hold a compietition for all classes oh the Polhill Gully range this afternoon, in conjunction with the City Eifles.
