(PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, June 15. Sir George Grey and Mr J. M. Shera, M.H.R.’s, and the Hon Dr Pollen, M.L.G., left by the s.s. Tattapuna to attend Parliament, and Mr Walrond, the Governor’s Private Secretary, who has just returned from the Islands, was also a passenger. Peter Mackie, aged 80, is dead. He was an elder of St. James' Presbyterian Chnrob. It is believed that his death was hastened by the drowning of bis son Robert in the Wanganui River recently. Christchurch, Jane 15.
The General Committee of the West Coast Railway League met this afternoon. It was reported that the receipts from the reconstruction of the League in December, 1885, to the general meeting in May last had been £367, and the expenditure £367. Since last meeting £66 had been oollcoted by subscriptions limited to one guinea each. This is to be kept in hand as a reserve fund for future operations, should occasion arise. Mr William Norman, a prominent member of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, of which he was once president, died last night, aged 75- He w<i« a passenger by the Sir George Seymour, one of the first fear ships, and was one of the earliest breeders of Clydesdales in Canterbury. The Moaraki LiocmslDg Committee met today and granted two out of three applications for hotel licenses. The Committee wae elected on Prohibition lines, Westport, June 16. Tenderers for the Tanrangerere-Tokoann roads and bridges will have a bad time through the severe weather at this time of the year along the base of the Tongariro mountain, and contracts cannot be finished in the specified time (four mouths). The weather is fearful and tho whole of the pro* posed lino of road is under snow, and will probably bo in a worse condition as the depth of winter is reaoho;). Dunedin, Juno 15.
The directors of the Industrial Cooperative Society deeming the number of shares applied for satisfactory, intend to proceed with the registration. The National Bank shipped to-day, per s.s, Rosamond, 1334J0z of gold ; value, £5403 2s.
The Gallant Tipperary mine has yielded 138 oz of retorted geld for the week.
