(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, Jane 14.
The Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association, in reply to the Minister of Agriculture’s circular asking suggestions on subjects relating to agricultural and pastoral industries which may be deemed necessary to consider in Parliament, has forwarded several suggestions. The principal are : “ That tho dairy Industry be encouraged, especially by establishing peripatetic dairy schools. That tho introduction and spread of oodlin moth be prevented by stringent legislation. That a Royal Commission be appointed to enquire into the question of irrigation in Canterbury, That effect be given to tho suggestions of tbe Commissioners who reported on tbe Lincoln AgrU cultural College—that agricultural scholarships to Lincoln be established in primary schools, that the elementary principles of agriculture ba taught in the primary schools. That the 94 days’ quarantine far imparted stock commence from the date of shipment instead of from tbe date of landing.’' The Association draws attention to tbs hindrance to agricultural progress caused by tbs high railway charges and deficiency of rolling stock. They also express regret at Mr Reginald Foster’s removal from bis former position la the Stock Department.
