BREACHES OF BEER DUTY ACT.

Westport, April 20.

At the R.M. Court to*day, Williams, brewer, was proceeded against for breaches of the Beer Duty Act, Twenty-three infonna.ioDS altogether were laid by Officer Jackman. Mr Fell, Crown Prosecutor, of Nelson, conducted the piosecution. Defendant was found guilty on one charge of fraudulent entry, and as the charge was laid under the 29th section of the Act, which provides a minimum penalty of £SO, the defendant was fined £75 and £ll coats. The other oases were adjourned until the 2nd May, when, if the fine is paid, the whole of the charges pending will be withdrawn.
