By the Roman Catholic Lands Act, 1876? the Roman Catholic Bishop of each diocese in New Zealand was made a corporation sole for the purpose of holding lands to him* self and his successors : the object of this Bill is to declare that' tbe Roman Catholic Archbishop of Wellington shall be deemed' to have the same powers as he had as Bishop' of the same diocese previous to his promo* tion as Archbishop; and a'so to declare the said Archbishop to be an “ office-bearer ” within the meaning. : of the Religions, Charitable, and Educational Trusts Act, 1856.
