In consequence of a great trial between Carbine and Malua at Caulfield to-day, the former has hardened in the Derby betting, and 7 to 4 has been taken about his chance.

Ther is no change in the Cup betting, and everything is very quiet to-night.

At the Anniversary Races to-day there was only a fair attendance, the threatening weather keeping away a large number. The following are the results : Handicap Hurdles —Lonehand, 1 ; Oceola, 2 ; Orient, 3. Hack Hurdles Cassandra, 1 ; Wai. kouiki, 2 ; Farina, 3, Trotting Handicap— Antelope, I; Te Kooti, 2 ; Polly, 3. Wairau Plato—Misa d’Or, 1; Baroama. 2; Lona band, 3. Shearers’ Purse Lignite, 1 ; Georgina, 2; Stella, 3. Flying Handicap— Bluoher, 1 ; Lignite, 2; The Mite, 3. Cavalry Race —Bfucher, 1 ; Cassandra, 2. Sporting Handicap Barosma, 1 ; Miss dOr, 2; Gunpowder, 3. In the Hack Hurdles a rider named Tekley bad his horse roll over him. His injuries are serious, and ho is not expected to live.
