DEATH OF MR JOHN GULLY.

Nelson, November 1
Mr John Gully, the well-known artist, died to-day, after a lengthy illness, aged 69. He settled down in Taranaki on first coming to the Colony, and after some active service during the Maori war, came to Nelson in 1860. In 1863 he was appointed draughtsman and surveyor under Mr J. C. Richmond, of Nelson, but the last 10 years of his life have been devoted wholly to art.
