The following are the acceptances for the Metropolitan Stakes (subject to Melbourne scratohings);—Trenton, Arsenal, Ringmaster, Spade Guinea, First Chester, Abner, Silvermine, Jewel, Dunlop, Bohemian, Gitana, Kohai, Acolyte, Pasha, Crossfire, Frisco, Dagobert, Merlin, Phaon, Folly, Matador, Here’s-Luck, Teddy Ynille, Dividend, Monk, Soretta, Peeress, Cardigan, Peabody, Queen, Dagon, Fair Saxon, Rosebud, Fernandez, Felon, Aberdeen, Branchiopoda, Shark and Uppercut. (Received August 23, 1.30 a.m.) Sydney, August 22, The following are the Melbournescratchings for the Metropolitan Stakes ; —Ringmaster, • Shark, Branchiopoda, Bohemia, Kohai, Dagon, Newton, Fair Saxon, and Fernandez. With the exception of the weight-for-age races, the entries for the A.J.C. Spring Meeting have been well filled. They include Moorbank for the Trial Stakes ; Mitrailleuse, Pasha, and Teddy Yuille for the Epsom Handicap; Mitrailleuse, Rocket, and Vinaigrette for the Shorts; Teddy Yuille and Pasha for the Squatters’ Handicap ; Rocket and Mitrailleuse for the Suburban Handicap ; Pasha, Teddy Ynille, and Spade Guinea for the Sydney Handicap ; Niagara for the Craven Plate and the Members’ Handicap ; Pasha, Spade Guinea, and Teddy Yuille for the Waverley Handicap ; and Teddy Yuille for the Free Handicap. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, August 22. At a meeting held to-day, the Auckland Racing Club drew up tbeir programmes for the ensuing year. The total amount proposed to be given away in stakes daring the season is £7240, apportioned as follows Spring Meeting, £1020; Summer Meeting, £384; Autumn Meeting, £5670; and Winter Meeting, £7OO. They farther resolved to reduce the added money of the Cup to £750, the distance of the race still remaining at 2J miles. After a good deal of deliberation, the Club decided to place the Derby on the first day’s programme of the summer meeting; the Cup race to be run on the second day. This step has provided some adverse comment. Beside the Derby the other principal race on the first day of the summer meeting will be the A.R.C. Handicap, 1| miles.
