The United States pension list for this year amounts to the almost incredible sum of 76,000,000 dollars. Mr Thomas Paterson, of Win ton, who took a mob of horses to Melbourne three weeks ago, returned by the Rotomahana. He was very lucky with his shipment, and is satisfied with the results of his "trade.” There is, he says,, a good market in Victoria for horses of a certain stamp ; to send over inferior animals is to court disappointment and loss. —Southland Times.
