THE RAILWAY STATION APPROACH.
TO T HE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —Can you inform me who is responsible for the disgraceful condition of
the street which runs past_ the Government Railway station ? During the whole of this winter it has been a regular mire, through which many hundreds of people hive had to wade daily in order to get to and from the Railway Station. Surely the responsible body has funds sufficient to put down a much-needed crossing from the corner of Lambton-quay and Mulgrave-atreet to the railway station. If they have not, I feel confident that the regular railway passengers will willingly subscribe to a fund for that purpose. lam willing to start a subscription with a guinea.—l am, &c,, Charles db Ormonde. [The City Council must bear the blame. Perhaps our correspondent’s liberal offer may shame them into energy.— Ed. N.Z.T.]
