The Greymonth Jockey Club had a very prolonged meeting last night, all ' the members being present, , In order to accommodate the Kumara Club; the original fixtures were altered to 31st December and 2nd January next. The amount of the stakes is £370, or £4O more, than last meeting. The report of the Hokitika Club regarding the disqualification of Messrs Bradley and Card, owners of Rose and Gold and Barney was considered. Mr Card's explanation having been taken in writing, it was resolved by 8 to 2 to endorse the disqualification of Messrs Bradley and Card by the Hokitika Club from running their horses for two years. Palmerston North, August 20. A five-roomed cottage at Stoney Creek, owned and Occupied by Mr Caspar, a settler, was burned down at an early hour this morning, the inhabitants barely escaping with their lives. The house was insured for £IOO, and the furniture for £SO, both in the New Zealand Office.
