At a meeting of the Board of Education itr Worthington, head master of the Wei. lesley-stiest School reported I hat he had to remove Mr W. J. Brown, assistant teacher, from duty on the previous day, not considering him in a fit condition to attend to cUes.-s, and also a ,!;inir for hi, removal, as be could not allow him ag'in to take charge. Mr Brou n forwarded a note from Dr. Baytum, certifying

that he was suffering from ulcerated throat and nervous debility, which would necessitate his absence for a week. The Board censured the head master for arrogating functions and for stating that Mr Brown would not again bo allowed to tench in the school; and postpoaod its decision in Mr Brown’s case pending an investigation by a Committee. The amount of .Messrs Eincaid and--McQueen’s tender, which was accepted for the ironwork of tho railway bridge here is £13,826 19s S 3 ; the tender for stone abutments, &c., previously let, was £10,003.
