Disobeying an Okder.— =JTohn Horn was ■charged with having failed to comply with an order of the Court at Christchurch for the support of his child in the Burnham Industrial School. He offered to contribute 10a per week, but said he could not pay the £lO arrears. The case was adjourned until next day. ■ Thbowing Stones. —Theodore Baby, who pleaded guilty to throwing atones on Auroraterrace, was cautioned and lined 5s and coats. By-Law Cases.— John Shiels was charged’ with having allowed three horses to wander in Buckle-street on the 17th of September. The offtuce was proved, and the defendant was fined 15s and 11s costs. t • Assault. —Alex. Sample was charged with having assaulted Alfred MoCafferty, city porter, on the 30th September. The prosecutor deposed that a few days ago he picked lip a cap in the street, and left it at the defendant’s shop, saying if the owner did not turn ,np he should claim it as.bis property. On the ■3oth instant he went to ask for the cap, when the defendant threw him on the pavement. He denied that be was drunk. , The defendant stated that the complainant had annoyed him by calling at his shop several times while in an intoxicated state, but denied the assault. Several witnesses deposed that ’ complainant was sober on the day in question. The defendant was fined £4 and costs.
