At a meeting of the High School Board of Governors to-day Mr Geo. Gray : Russell sent a letter intimating that he had decided to give the Board the sum of £IOOO, to he invested for the purpose of founding a scholarship or scholarships at the O tago University. There were certain conditions in connection with the gift, one being that the fund be called the “ Geo. Gray Russell Scholarship Fund," and that the scholarship nr scholarships founded tinder it be open only to students at the University who have attended cither the Boys’ «r the Girls’ High School for at least ore school year immediately preceding the examination. The meeting instructed the Chairman to thankfully acknowledge Mr Russell’s handsome gift. , ' I
