Christchurch, June 24. The New Zealand Loan, and Mercantile Agency | Company Limited, report on the prodace markets for the week ending Juno 22. as follows WooL—The local market is now virtually closed until the new clip comes In. Homo advices ore not quite so favorable during the p-ist few day*, a Blight cessation in demandbeing manifestat the London sales Our latest cable reports, under date June 20, state 4 The market Is unchanged. Coarse greasy crossbred market easier. The Homo and German demand is good, but from other quarters the demand is poor. Up to date 245,000 bales have been sold. The sale programme lias been curtailed by four days. Sheepskins.—At Thursday’s sale there was o good attendance and keen competition. Wo submitted 703 skins, which made up to 5s Ocl for crossbreds, 5s 8d for merinos. Wo deem it necessary to again urge upon our constituents the importance of giving more attention to the sadng of th-lr skins. {Several excellent lines have been appreciated to the extent of 50 per cent, for the want of a little care in this resp?ct. Tallow and fat.— t here is a good demand for all coming forward, and prices hardened slightly at Thursday’s sale. We placed our consignment at 21(1 all round. Hides.—Tanners have bought more freely during the week, and p.iccs have touched 4d 3-lOth for heavies. This was after it became known that a large line had been taken off the market for export at an all-round figure of 4d X-IGth. Buyers have recently drawn comparison between the prices ruling here and in other parts of New Zealand, but they overlook the fact that in no other market are hides so fairly trimmed as in Christchurch. Wheat. —A steady trade continues to pass between n *® r ®” an ' s and shippers at late quotations—namely, 4s lOd to os f.0.b., up to ssfid for small parcels of prune Tuscan seed, Chickwheat is in more plentiful supply, and sells at 3s 3d to 3s Od. Oats.-The expected demand from* Australia has not yet developed itself, but a fair coastwise trade is passing supporting rates at the level of 3s od to 3s 0d f.o.b. Barley. Prime malting samples are scarce. A la ge line has passed into the hands ot a shipper at 4s (id delivered at Rakaia, which supports our quotations of 4s 6d to 4s 8d for good malting ; 4s to 4s 4d for second quality; and 3s Od to 3s fid for feed parcels. Grass Seed.—There has been some inquiry for well-dressed parcels, thus denoting that preparations for spring sowing are being made unusually early, owing, probably, to the spring-like weather lately enjoyed. Clean samples of rye grass are offering at 6s to 5s Od ; farmers' lots at 4s 3d to 4s Od. Cocksfoot is quoted at sd, f.o.b. Potatoes.—A very quiet week has to be noted in this tuber; but, as before reported,' the cj;'aP is almost entirely in the hands of merchants, :who command the market, and will not quote under paying rates. Dairy Produce,—Continued shipments to Australia have produced a very firm market for both cheese and butter, with a decided enhancement in the value of the former. Prime ripe, cheese ia now worth 7d f.0.b.; and good butter com-mands-Is 2d to Is 3d. ~ , . . t Meuro Matron, Buss and Co. held a clearing sale of stock nl Rangiora on Friday, and realised the following prices Two hundred crossbred lambs realised 10s 3i per head.
