[SPECIAL TO SYD KEY PAPERS.) (united peeps association.) THE NEW FRENCH MINISTRY. OPINIONS OF THE EUROPEAN PRESS. FENIANISM AT BRADFORD. MARRIAGE OF SIR U. GAVAN DUFFY. Auckland, November 25. There is terrible sickness among the French troops at Tunis. Typhoid fever and dysentry are the principal ailments, and the soldiers are suffering fearfully. There is great discontent in the army, and the soldiers complain loudly of the neglect of tbe authorities to provide them with medicine, medical attendance, and other necessaries.
Gambetta bavin" completed the formation of hia Ministry, has issued a manifesto setting; forth the line of policy which the Government propose adopting. Complete reform of the judicial sytem is intended to be proposed. The Government also contemplates effecting changes which will render the education law of the country more perfect, and bring it more into harmony with the feelings of the people. It is further intended to render military laws more complete, and to reduce military expenditure. The German Press generally ridicules Gambetta’s Ministry. The Ministry formed by Gambetta is the subject of severe comment and criticisms by the European Press, and the combination is considered weak and unsafe f t France.
Fenianism is proven to have been very active about Bradford for some time. There were drillings and displays of force on the part of recruits to the cause. The arrest of Lohiu has fallen like a rocket into the camP> an< l a stampede of supposed leaders has followed ; but, unless they make other movements, the police seem disposed to take no farther notice of them. , In a circular despatch, dealing with Egyptian affairs, Lord Granville says that any approach towards anarchy in that country would give cause for intervention on the part of England, , , An atariui'.g explosion of dynamite took place on board the steamer Severn during her trip between Bristol and Glasgow. Considerable damage was done to the vessel, and some of those on board were injured, but no one was killed. The cause of the explosion has not been ascertained. Sir Charles Gavau Duffy has been married to Miss Louisa Hall, of Cheshire. The ceremony was solemnised at Paris.
