MELBOURNE IMPORT MARKETS. The latest market report given by the Aryus (the 9th instant) is as follows In the import market a moderate amount of business continues to be done, the general demand showing little or no improvement, notwithstanding that an occasional speculative inquiry leads to a considerable amount of sales. Breadstuff* show no change, and the paucity of supplies checks business. Plour in parcels is quoted at £l2 ss. to £l2 10s. ; but wo have nothing to record In the way of sales. Wheat is firm ; prime samples can be got rid of at 6s. 9d. to ss. lod., and medium quality is quoted at ss. 7d. to s*. Bd. In oats, wo note the quittance under thehammer of 700 bushels, at 4s. lUd. to ss, SJd. Maize is very dull at sa. 7d., and nothing of interest is allowed to transpire. .Sugars have again been largely sold. 1494 bags Mauritius, damaged, were quitted at £29 10s. to £34 i 3339 mats Java, also faulty; were cleared off at £29 to £3O 10s.; 1882 bag* Bourbons were sold at £23 6s. to £23 10s. for good rations, and £l9 ss. to £2l -10 a. for low rations. At same time 390 barrel* crushed loaf realised £39. The cargo of the Beethoven will bo offered publicly to-morrow forenoon. We note also a good business In teas. Sales privately of common congous, in boxes, have been made at Is. 3d. Publicly, however, some 2238 packages congous were disposed of at 10Jd. to Is. 7£d. 1000 packages fancy teas were likewise placed at Is. Id. for old pekoes, and lOd. to IOJd. for gunpowder. Last week we referred to a speculative inquiry for candles, and we now learn of a movement which has led to the disposal up till this afternoon of 44,000 boxes, chiefly on the spot, comprising Ooudas, Brandon's, and D.R.O.'* and it is probable that for the future a more legitimate price will rule than has hitherto been maintained, as most of the stock held Is now Jn the hands of two buyers, who have raised the price to lid. Trade parcels of kerosene oil are moving at Is. 2id. for Devoe's, and Is. l|d. for diamond. A line of 50 pockets Tasmanian hops, 1874, lias been sold for export at equal to Is. s£d., duty paid. Sultana raisins have been sold In bond at sid. A parcel of 50 bales cornsacka, light weight, was quitted at 9s. Cd. Hennery's case brandy Is moving at 28a. Cd., and sales of 10 per cent. o.p. rum are making at s,oa
