[Press Telegraph Agency.] Auckland, Tuesday. At a meeting of the trustees of- J. 0. Morrin, Morrin’s tender of £8350 for the whole estate was accepted. Before the Cyphrenes left San Francisco, a meeting of the Pacific Mail Company was held to consider a proposal to place two steamers — the Vasco de Gama and the Vancouver—in the trade from San Francisco to Honolulu, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, returning via Port Chalmers along the New Zealand coast; the steamers to fill up, when other cargo was not procurable, with coals. The proposal is to be further considered after the arrival, at San Francisco, of two steamers for the company, expected from New York. Napier, Tuesday. The Supreme Court sittings commence tomorrow. There is a light calendar, there being only four prisoners. Two are charged with forgery, and two with horse-stealing. It is doubtful whether there will be any civil action tried, but three or four cases are pending. The Bebington case will probably be postponed owing to the illness of the captain. New Plymouth, Tuesday. The National Bank advertises in the papers that it will allow 3 per cent, on the daily balance of current accounts. On deposits at thirty days, 1 per cent. ; at three months, 5 per cent. ; at six months, 6 per cent. The Bank of New Zealand advertises the highest rates of interest. •. Hokitika, Tuesday. At a general meeting of the shareholders of the Kanieri Lake Water Face Company, a very satisfactory report of the progress of the works was presented by the directors. 1500 shares, however, must be issued to finally complete the works. It was resolved to issue these on calls of Is. per month. Over one thousand were applied for in the room. The prospects of the race are good. Applications are in for thirty head of water, equal to £9O per week. Nelson, Tuesday. Tomlinson, of the Waimea Eifies, has qualified. His score was 97. Christchurch, Tuesday. Anniversary Day to-morrow. Great preparations are being made for holiday festivities. Alice May, of the English Opera Company> had a benefit last night, and notwithstanding the bad weather had a crowded house.
