INDIA.— CHINA.
By way of Singapore we have received India and China news to the end of August. In India every thing, was quiet. Lord Ellenborough had departed for England, and Sir H. Hardinge appeared to be determined to Conquer no more kingdom?, — if he could help it. In China, except an occasional outbreak of the dissolute vagabonds who reside in Canton and its suburbs, unanimity prevails between the Europeans and the Chinese. Governor Davis was about sailing on a visit to the northern ports, to assist the various consuls in making the requisite arrangements for facilitating the operations of commerce. We regret to observe that the opinion that Hongkong was unhealthy was gaining ground.
