AHAURA.

The football match between Ahaura and Reefton wa© played on the Reefton Racecourse on August 12th and resulted in a win for the better team. The scores were 27 to 3. The weather was splendid and much interest was taken in the match.

The annual ball in connection with the Foresters* Lodge, Reefton, was held in the Princess Theatre, on Friday evening, August 11th, and was the most Successful held for many year®. The visiting team of hockey players from Hok tika were cordially invited, and contributed greatly towards making the affair so successful. The hall was filled with youth and beauty. The floor was excellent, and dancing was kept going till four in the morning. A public meeting was held in the Council Chambers, Reef ton, on Thursday evening last, to make the necessary arrangements in connection _ with the forthcoming sports and ball in aid of the Hospital Funds. It was decided to hold the sports on Labour Day, and the ball at night, admission to . which is fixed at 7e 6d double, 5s single, with extra lady 2s 6d. A large committee was formed, which will leave no stone unturned to make both events •a. complete success.
