AUCKLAND, August 18. Since July 14th the Tairua Broken! Hills Goldmining Company treated 369 tons of ore for bullion valued at £1035. REEFTON, August 17. Big River mine manager reports:— During the week No. 8 level, west drive has been extended 16ft, making the distance from cross-cut 86ft. On Monday the stone was cut out. To-day there is a new make of stone in face of drive eighteen inches wide, showing gold. Intermediate has been driven 12ft, and a stope started. Stone averages three feet on width. Have raised during week fifteen tons stone. REEFTON, August 19. Alpine mine manager reports—Stoping has been carried on north and south of uprise. Stone is from sft to 3ft 6in wide, but there is no improvement in quality. Returns—Pactolus No. 1,50 oz 9dwt for 125 hours; Pactolus No. 2,82 oz 6dwt for 120 hours. DUNEDIN, August 20.
