A QUIET WEDDING
On Wednesday 9th inst, a quiet wedding was celebrated at the residence of the bridegroom’s mother, Hope Cottage, McFarlane street, when Miss Grace Darling was married to Mr R. O. Renner, Ser.cetary of the Wellington Ferry Company, etc. Owing to the serious illness of the bridegroom’s mother the ceremony was private, only the close friends of the parties being present. The officiating minister was the Rev J. Paterson, and the bride was attended by her sister Miss Amy Darling and two little maids, Miss Dolly Olark. niece of the bride, and Miss Mavis McLean. Mr J. R. Renner was heist man. The bride, whe was given away by Mr W. J. Thompson, looked charming in a rich Louiseen silk dress, trimmed with large silk medallions and silk insertion to match. She wore the orthodox veil and orange blossom, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. The chief bridesmaid wore a pretty turquoise blue voile dress and a black picture hat. The other bridesmaids were attired in white silk with poke bonnets, and each carried a crook. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold necklace with a cross set with rubies attached; to each of the bridesmaids, a gold bangle, and to the bride’s mother, a gold brooch. Among numerous presents received were a handsome silver entree dish from the employees of the Ferry Company, and a beautiful silver afternoon tea service with unique oak tray from the employees of Thompson Brothers. After the ceremony the guests were entertained by the parents of the bride and bridegroom at afternoon tea.
