A special meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held on Saturday morning, Mr William Cable (chairman) presiding. There were also present the Hons. F. H. Fraser and T. K. Macdonald, M.L.C.’s., the Hon. T. W. Hislop (Mayor of Wellington), Messrs W. T. Wood, M.H.R., James McLellan, Harold Beauchamp, and Frederick Townsend. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs T. Wilford, M.H.R., and Daniell. Mr D. J. Nathan, at present in London, was granted a further three months’ leave of absence. Formal resolutions were adopted, accepting surrender of leases of Hunter street endowment, and issue of new leases for tihe unexpired balance of term. A request from the Gisborne Harbour Board for the services of Mr Ferguson (engineer) on an urgent matter was declined. Discussions upon the two last-named matters are reported elsewhere in this issue.
