A SHRINKING DAIRY YIELD.
PALMERSTON, March 24. The present is the driest season experienced in the Manawatu district for many years past. Feed all over the country is parched and burnt up, and in many instances farmers are carting water for their stock. Investigations made by a “Standard” representative show that the milk supply to factories has fallen from 20 to 45 per cent, below the supply this time last year. Tho output of butter from a factory here has fallen from 80001 b or 90001 b daily to between GOOOIb and 70001 b, and there is every indication that it will fall much lower. The milk yield is decreasing every day. The winter feed has not vet been trenched upon, but it will bo necessary to do so before long, unless there* " ~ irx '--ly and continuous •' i- -i***
