BOWLING.
Games were played on all the city and suburban greens on Saturday afternoon. The weather was delightful. WELLINGTON GREEN. Wellington v. Thorndon. Two rinks from the 'lhorndon Club tried conclusions with two from Wellington Club, the match resulting in a win for the visitors by 53 points to 48. Following is the score:— Thorndon Gamble, Petrie, McEldowney, Ross (skip), 28. Wellington —Blundell, Still, Vvebb, Plunmer (skin), 18. Wellington—Burns. Knapp, Lawson, Gibbes (skip), 30. Thorndon —£ smith, Rarraud, Mitford Kilgour (skip), 25. Other Games. The final pennant match between the Wellington and Victor, a Clubs was played. Wellington winning by G 1 to 52." In a match for the Edwin Feathers, the holders of the Thomelon Club (Bxley, Blanchard, Longton, and J. M. King) beat the Karori challengers (Lloyd, Raines, Tustin, and Bennett) by 25 points to 14. Four rinks from the Hutt Club will pay a visit to tho Victoria green on Saturday. LOWER HUTT CLUB. Three rinks from the Thorndon Club paid a visit to the Hutt green on Saturday afternoon. At the close . of an enjoyable game it was found that the aggregate scores of both sides were the same, and as neither club was anxious to score a win, it was decided not to play an extra head, but to let the tie remain. The scores were: — Lower Hurt—Macaskiil, McDonald, Eliott, Mowbray (skip), 18 ; Thorndon — Freeman, Buckle, Barry. Melverrow (skip), 18. Lower Hutt —Duthie, Mason, Oil lender, Hendry (skip), 39; Thorndon — Macintosh, Collins, Hickson, Rose (skip), 9. Thorndon—Reeves, Fraser, J. T. King, Sievwright (skip), 32; Lower T Tnto—Parsons, Treadwell, Hodgins, Young (skip), 11. Totals : Lower Hutt, 59 ; Thorndon, 59. NEWTOWN CLUB. There was a large gathering o-f members of the club on the green, the occasion being to bid farewell to Mr T. L. Blyth, an old and respected member, who is leaving to reside in Auckland. Mr Kinniburgh proposed, the health of the departing member and of -Mrs Blyth, which was drunk with musical honours. Mr Blyth expressed regret at having to leave Wellington for health reasons, and thanked the members of the club for tbeii* kindly expressions. The club, he hoped, Avould retain its present prominent position in the bowling world.. The following cards were handed in. The games svere played under the Huddart-Parker system: — Bland, Pollock.
