Deceased joined tho Royal Marines seventy-one years ago, and served in the Syrian campaign of 1840 at D’Jovui', the storming of Sidon. and the bombardment of Acre, receiving the medal, and clnso and the Turkish medal. Subsequently, in 1854 and 1855, he served with the Baltic fleet during the Russian war, receiving die medal. He became major in 1857, after twentv-four years’ service
