STONY CREEK BRIDGE. —This is one of the loftiest railway bridges in the world, it being 300 feet from the rails to the bottom of the valley. The river underneath is only a noisy rill, which has cut its way through a narrow gorge. One of the most beautiful prospects of the whole railway journey is to be had from this spot. The builders of the railway were so charmed with the magnificent picture of mountains that they named the place “The Surprise.”
